THREE: Knitting Associations

Right now I am working on A Redwall sweater. This is a variation of a sweater for Jirina. I am knitting this now to make a pattern for it. I am never confident enough in my designs to trust that a previous version of the pattern will work perfectly for a pattern, so with each new pattern I have to reknit.

What I love most about this: it gives Leif a chance to read to me! I love knitting while he reads. I made my way through the back of the sweater while he read Levin's first book, This World Belongs to Us, which he has just made available as a Kindle book. Sometime into the front of the sweater Leif started Levin's second book in this trilogy about demons and angels, Twisting Shadows. Now, forever forward, this sweater will be associated with Levin's book in my mind. If I ever knit this again, I will be wondering what is happening to the characters. Are Liara and Azarial safe? Has anything changed in the angel world? Listening to something else will feel wrong somehow to me.

I hope this really illustrates how slow my knitting actually is! I haven't even gotten through the neck or started the sleeves, and we're over half way through Twisting Shadows. And I know Levin hasn't even started the third book. The sleeves will have to remind me of podcasts I will listen to after Leif has finished the second book.
